| The original Alfa 156 is a stunner, and it still stands: the 159 is a lumpy kind of Audi-ish piece of headturner. Turn the other way that is. A collegue has a 2.0 and a friend had a flipper-gear 2.0 TS, they never failed. Now Alfa makes the best sounding vee-sixes since the early eighties, so what keeps me from considering a late 90's 4K 156 I dunno. Nice read. | |

| Well written article, that leaves a lot of the usual BMW/Audi sponsored mainstream magazines behind. However, maybe I'm being biased now. I have had a 156 GTA saloon for the last 9 months and I am still in love... | |

| Great review James, I agree with everything, save for perhaps the GTA's manners on rough roads, I think it could do with being a bit more supple. Still they are a fantasticly fast, practical car, with drop dead gorgeous looks. Good value now as they come on the the used market at anything from 12,500 upward. | |

| Nice to read your review, I'm a big fan of the 130i and would agree with much of what you said. However, the ride quality is something that kills this car in my opinion. On a B-Road the rear skips around and the ride is extremely bouncy, and despite its power advantage I'm not entirely sure it would be that much faster down a rough and twisty road as a Mk5 Golf GTI. I want to love the 130i, but in an area where it should really shine it severely disappoints. Look forward to reading more about your car though, and that engine is to die for! | |

| As far as the fuel consumption goes - I went from an E36 320i to a E36 328i and the consumption in the bigger engine was much better than the 2 litre!
Trailing arm bushes for ё9 each? Sounds cheap but when I had mine done the fitting took hours and required specialist BMW re-alignment once fitted. Beware!

| Hi Tim - you can abate the 'lumpiness' of the cold car somewhate (and stave off the tractor-like rumble when starting from cold) by fitting a timing chain tensioner from an E36 M3. A very common upgrade for these cars (but as I type this I've realised that you probably already know this, don't you?). I used to have an E30 M3 years ago, an H-reg UK car and I loved it to bits. The lhd suited me perfectly then as I used to spend my weeks working in Holland and the weekends home in England - talk about having to keep your wits about you! | |

| Well, there you have it: the Diablo VT is a "chick mobile"! And an outrageously fine one at that, a rolling celebrity and a far step beyond the gussied-up Countach. Sincere congrats and use her in good health. | |

| 19 June 2006, 11:00 UK | Lamborghini Espada S3 Entry 3 |
| What an immense joy this car is. I'm truly amazed you didn't encouter any other Spada at events. As in ClassicDriver a few weeks ago: "One could not hustle a Miura or a Countach in such a cool-handed way in traffic." Indeed, but they share the same V12 (OK, milder cams, 5mm smaller Webers, other ignition), there's room for 4 (spacious!), vision is excellent, looks are . . . don't get me started ;) I've learned there are only a few Spada-lovers out there. The pedigree that rings through at start up and at idle is dazzling. Along the way the climbing of the revs - let her warm up in respect for the beautifull machinery - there's a breaking point at about 4 - 4.5k that clearly indicates: do you want to get into the next phase? Well, yes! Stepping hard with enough tarmac layed out in front, the mill begins to sing like nothing else. With a turbine-like thrust the Spada pulls and pulls . . . switching gears at 6 - 6.5 feels comfy . . . but this beasty can go all the way through 8000 rpm. Who dares? In the meantime the backseat is a perfect place to watch and listen . . . Frontseats offer the better soundbyte though. For me last sunday was an historic event ;) | |

Great write-up indeed! As a fellow and proud owner of a 1992 500E (in the exactly the same exterior/interior color combo) I very much share your exact feeling towards this king of cars. I just wish I had access to the open motorways in Europe to habitually open up this monster. You'll be surprised how hard you can drive this car (many people have taken it to the track and use it daily - testament to its Porsche pedigree) and how well it will maintain its poise and performance well into the high mileage potential of the built proof M 119.974 engine, probably the best engine Mercedes ever build which then Porsche tuned. The Porsche involvement from the get go is what set this car apart from all Mercedes cars ever build past present and future, including AMG. And having this steel unibody masterpiece of a car designed, engineered, tuned, road tested (where it was claimed to be the first Benz that handled like a Porsche by a Porsche test driver) completely hand build and hand welded by Porsche engineers in the same plant where the magnificent 959 was conceived, permanently chiseled a grin on my face, which only widens more when the WOT kicks in! Enjoy this limited production and rare work of perfection - no other new Benz comes close to the timeless 124 chassis design and proven durability and this 500E child is icing on the cake!

| A mate of mine acquired one of these a few years ago. I'd never heard of the "Clio 16V" before - I thought the Williams was the only 'hot Clio'. He kept going on and on and on and on about it and how I should drive it. When I finally did, I understood what the fuss was about - it is brilliant to drive, really terrific fun. | I recently installed some upgraded headlamps in my Impreza and thought I'd pass on my findings to you... After reading the H4 headlamp reviews on www.autoexpress.co.uk I settled on their highest scorer - Halfords Super Brilliance - the 50% plus ones. They scored even higher than the 'blue' ones and don't have the annoying feature of blinding on coming cars, even on dip, like most of them. Anyway, they've made a big difference and helped make me much safer at night... (and faster too). Last month when I bought them they were 2 for the price of one at £13.99 each so a definate bargain, especially when compared to similar bulbs (that scored less highly) on the autoexpress test. | |

It's not brute or savage, it's just quick and it allowes you to be quick. Great car and I loved it. I couldn't find a driving position though. 1.86m.(6'1") The engine is flexible and lineair. Put yer foot down and it's like the devil's ran into ya with his bulldozer from hell. And there's no way stopping it. At 240 kmh the hood begun to flap about

| Great journal David! :+) The oft-quoted Autocar Sagaris vs Griff in-gear times are misleading. The Sagaris is geared to take advantage of a usable rev range nigh on 50% wider than a Griff. A Sagaris, one gear down (which is what you'd use), will waste a Griff. This can also be seen in the Autocar figures. | |
